Ravaged by water wars, famine and drought, the West is once again wild, and peace but a thing of the past. Children are rare. Water is scarce. Life hinges on a delicate balance.
In order to escape a life-prison sentence and win her freedom, Key makes a deal with Gael, the leader of a brutal gang of outlaws known as the Revelers.
Amidst her perilous journey Key stumbles upon an orphaned boy named Kellan and realizes there's more at stake than she thought. Now, with an opportunity to right her wrongs, and a new-found sense of duty, Key fights to protect what's left and the future of the west.
Key’s job is simple: a Native American reservation has the region’s last freshwater aquifer beneath it, but it is surrounded by a minefield. Key is the only one who knows how to get in. If she can do it, she will be free.
THE PROTECTOR is the beginning of a global movement to “protect what is left” for future generations. The Hollywood system is not supporting impactful independent film, and we believe the future of the medium depends on taking the risks necessary to prove them wrong.
We all understand that we are at a pivotal moment in human history, but tangible steps on how we take action are few and far between. The issues are so overwhelming and far-reaching it’s difficult to know where to start.
But that is the beauty of art and cinema - it allows us to talk about what would otherwise be difficult to address. The fact is, we believe that this movie can make a difference - not as a dystopic sci-fi film, but one grounded in reality.
Apocalypse in greek means “to reveal.” It is time we uncover what the future could look like - so people can more clearly look at water, climate change, and the discussion of how we “protect what is left.”
It's time for a movie like THE PROTECTOR to reach the world as a wake up call and become a compelling reminder of what is at stake.
Our goal is to inspire impact through engagement, strategic distribution and a clear call to action. For the film, that call to action is inspiring our audience to take a stand for one (or more) of the things that we cannot replace: clean watersheds, ocean health, old growth forests, rainforest, and pollinators.
The Protector hopes to align with a campaign around the ethos of protecting what's left for future generations.
The movie was made to appeal to a variety of audiences, and the goal is to shake off the apathy and overwhelm that has pervaded the conversation and focus on what we can do to make a difference.
